Learning for Pleasure

Brentwood

PROGRAMME:     AUTUMN 2023 - SPRING 2024

Welcome to Learning for Pleasure Brentwood

Learning for Pleasure has been established in Brentwood for more than 20 years.  Quality courses are given by professional lecturers and enjoyed by over 300 members.  The aim is to provide classes which are informative, interesting and friendly.

We are using two venues this year for our classroom lectures.  Please see the Venues Page for more details.  We hope our members will enjoy classes in these new locations.  Our Zoom lectures also continue.

Classes are held during the daytime and are open to anyone over the age of 18.  There are no assessments: just the joy of ‘Learning for Pleasure’ in the company of like-minded people.

Learning for Pleasure is a non-profit making organisation.

History

Learning for Pleasure was formed over 20 years ago as a break-away group from the WEA.  The Government demanded written work and exams for groups like the WEA and many members felt that they did not want the pressure of written work and wanted to learn just for pleasure, hence the name.  The Committee of volunteers, which meets 4 or 5 times a year, runs the charity and the Officers supervise the day to day functions.
